MAISA is pleased to announce the All-MAISA Team for 2013-2014 as selected by the All-MAISA committee.

The committee consists of 7 coaches: Ian Burman (Nacy), Brian Clancy (Cornell), Charles Higgins (Old Dominion), Reed Johnson (Fordham), Russ O'Reilly (SUNY Maritime), Dan Thompson (Hobart William Smith) and Janel Zarkowsky (Georgetown).

MAISA Teams Compete Well at Nationals

Once again teams from our Conference did extremely well at the ICSA Nationals, held this year on Lake Travis in Austin, TX. MAISA teams finished 4th, 7th and 14th at the Women's Championships. At the Team Race event our Conference teams were 2nd, 3rd, and 6th. Finally at Coed Nationals our teams were 1st, 6th, 16th, 17th, and 18th. Further, our Conference had 3 Coed All-Americans, 2 Coed Honorable Mention All-Americans, 7 Crew All-Americans, 1 Women's All-American, and 1 Woman Honorable Mention All-American. In addition both College Sailors of the Year hail from MAISA!

MAISA's Annual Meeting was held on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at St. John's College in Annapolis, MD.  Please see the Documents Page for Minutes, the updated MAISA Information Bulletin, and other important notices.  Thank you to the St. John's team for their work in hosting the meeting and congratulations to Bucknell & Stony Brook for joining the Conference.  Conference Call dates for the Executive Committee are set for 8:30 PM on February 21, March 20, & April 24. All are welcome to participate.

Leadership Changes & Sloop Resume Forms

Several changes to the Conference's Leadership occurred recently and are represented in the "Leadership" section of this site.

Also, teams interested in sailing the MAISA Sloop/Match Race Championship must fill out the Resume Form, which can be found on the "Documents" page. These resume forms must be sent to Scott Ikle (Fax: 315-781-3503) by October 6th.

Congratulations to all the MAISA teams who participated at the 2011 ICSA Nationals in Oregon. As a fitting end to a successful season, 18 student-athletes from our conference were recognized as All-Americans.

The Annual Meeting of the Conference will take place at the US Naval Academy on Saturday, January 29 starting at 9:00 AM. All teams are requested to send an undergraduate and graduate representative or give their proxy vote to an attendee.

The Middle Atlantic Intercollegiate Sailing Association (MAISA) covers the area between New York State and Virginia and includes the District of Columbia and parts of Canada.  Hundreds of sailors compete on more than forty teams that travel across the conference and the country.
