Keynote Speaker Friday Night
Dana G. Allen, Assistant VP Alumni Relations Old Dominion University
Dana comes to ODU with more than 10 year’s experience in the management of volunteer programs. Most recently she served for over 5 years with the Penn State Alumni Association, the largest dues-paying alumni association in the country. As the Associate Director, Volunteer Services, she directed the awards and volunteer training programs and worked with numerous affiliate groups across the country. In addition, she staffed the Executive and Awards Committees of the 86 member Alumni Council and supervised the Association’s Regional Directors. Prior to joining the staff at Penn State, Allen was Director of Volunteers at Mary Baldwin College where she oversaw the admissions volunteer program, worked with the alumnae board of directors, managed chapters, and advised the student alumnae relations society, receiving recognition as Adviser of the Year in 2001.
Speaking on the Brand of College Sailing
Jack Gierhart, Executive Director US SAILING
Jack is the Executive Director of US SAILING. Gierhart has over 20 years of sales, marketing, and general management experience in the technology and marine industries. In his 5+ years at US SAILING Jack has lead the Marketing, Membership and IT departments, focusing on growing the organization’s membership base, marketing US SAILING’s broad array of services and products, growing sponsorship and licensing programs, as well as and improving the overall information technology infrastructure, content management and outgoing communications initiatives. Jack was also the founder and CEO of MessageSherpa, an online communications company, and the executive vice president of Nautor’s Swan USA responsible for developing strategies and implementing sales, marketing, and customer service plans in the U.S. Jack served for as a global sales and business development manager for IBM where he developed worldwide sales strategies and enablement programs.
An avid sailor, Gierhart sails both competitively and recreationally. In addition to circumnavigating Alaska and sailing much of the east and west coasts of the US, he has participated in the Fastnet race, numerous Bermuda races and enjoys racing Lasers, H12s, Shields, J/105s, and J/80s. Jack graduated from Tulane University in 1987 and from Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business with an MBA in 1993. He lives with his wife, two daughters and son in Marion, Massachusetts.

Jerry is coming back to the Coaches Conference to do his popular segment “Pass the Pants”. Jerry will tell us about the new products for Gill.
Dawn Riley – Executive Director
As CEO and captain of America True, Riley was the first woman to manage an America’s Cup sailing team. She raced on four America’s Cup and two Whitbread (now Volvo Ocean Race) teams. She is the former president of the Woman’s Sports Foundation, serves on the board of US Sailing, and is an adviser to several public service organizations.

Housing

The condos we’ve reserved offer a ski-in/ski-out location in a comfortable setting. Evening meetings at the Conference will take place at the Condos from 5-9 on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights (we have a dinner at the Peaks Hotel on Friday night). Details:
Available Tues-Sat nights. Reserve now, 5-night stay preferred. Accommodations are spacious, shared bedrooms (no more than 2 per room) are large and comfortable. Rate is based on total occupancy, but will be less than $100/person/night – a deposit to confirm your reservation will be required. Condo guests typically share food costs (groceries)

The Peaks is the location of the ICSA Winter Meeting on Saturday and the Coaches’ Conference dinner on Friday night. Park City’s free bus service provides transportation to the mountain and to Main St. The Condos are a short walk from Main St. The room rate at the Peaks is $159/night – this rate expires on Dec 19th, contact the Peaks directly and ask for the ICSA rate.

Lift Tickets

Although the snow hasn’t started flying quite yet in the Northeast and there’s less than desirable conditions out west, the one sure bet every year is the good times had on the hill at the ICSA Coaches Colloquium. No matter the conditions, the days on the mountain are usually packed with interesting and productive conversations, a lot of laughs, and even some fun competition on the NASTAR course. While there is a lot to do and many discussions off the hill as well, everyone should at least hit the slopes for one day – regardless of your skill level. Park City Mountain Resort is one of the most versatile resorts in the country, with terrain for every type of skier or rider. Ambassador Adam Werblow will be offering free mountain tours each morning, complete with all necessary sound effects. So hopefully everyone heading out to Park City this year will take part in the fun on the mountain!
As we did last year, we’ll be getting a group rate on lift tickets. The tickets need to be booked ahead of time through me. The normal ticket price per day is around $95 – the group rate is significantly less:
1 Day – $69
2 Days – $128
3 Days – $185
4 Days – $237
To reserve your tickets, send me an email with the number of days you’d like to ski or ride. The deadline to let me know will be January 3rd. You can then pay me once we get to Park City with cash or check. If anyone needs a receipt for their tickets we can definitely arrange something.
For those who have early flights into SLC and can make it to the mountain the same day, don’t count that day in your total! You simply have to fill out a form and present your boarding pass and ID to get free skiing or riding on the day of your arrival. Very sweet deal.
